More What?
I can't believe I forgot the funniest part of my story about the floor heating! I even built it up. I should mention that I brought a duffel bag full of candy and junk food (and a Jeannie cake) for Craig. That duffel bag was one of the bags I left on the ground. Do you know what happens to Candy and Chocolate when it's heated up? It melts. So all that candy I brought melted. Ha!
What can I say about the natives of Korea? They're very western. All adults dress like posh western business people, wearing mostly neutral colors, all the time. To be honest the city, and the people aren't visually loud. I'm a little disappointed in that regard. Even 90% the cars are all silver, black and white. Too see a yellow car is very rare.
What isn't rare is small shops. There are seemingly endless tiny stores, be it a restaurant or a garage or a video rental store. I've been to several restaurants that only have 4 tables. I can't fathom how any of these businesses stay a float. It seems that businesses here are disorganized, but that business model is working for countless people here. For example I was hired without ever being interviewed, and I work for a posh school.
I'm in a part of town called Kangnam, it's a rich area. People and stores here dump old furniture on the street. I'm keeping my eyes open for a couch, that's how Craig got his. In other parts of town you wouldn't expect to find decent things on the street.
I hope to get out with my new camera and take some pictures of the town to share with you soon. Until then, ciao.
